Indian wrestling fans woke up to a rude shock on Thursday as the news of Ritika Phogat’s alleged suicide emerged early in the morning. Geeta and Babita Phogat were feeling ugly after listening to this news of her Cousin Ritika has committed suicide on Wednesday, March 17 2021. She was just 17 years old. Her teacher Mahavir Singh Phogat teaches her to play wrestling. She was a part of the Phogat Family,  Ritika lost this match by just 1 point. Because she loses, she was disappointed about her loss after that she Committed suicide in the early morning. This sport was played on March 14, 2021.

The police said Ritika Phogat, a 17-year-old girl, was believed to be upset at narrowly losing a wrestling tournament final. She had participated in a state-level competition at Bharatpur between March 12 and 14. She was found dead at the home of her uncle and legendary wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat late Monday. Ritika had trained in Mahavir Phogat training centre, a Dronacharya award winner who runs a sports academy. According to the police, she had been depressed about losing the final by one point. Both her father and Mahavir Phogat had been present at the tournament.

Ritika had trained Under Dronachary Awardee, Mahavir Singh Phogat, Who was also Reported present at the tournament. A resident of Jaitpur village in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu, Ritika had been learning and Practising wrestling for over five Years at the Mahavir Phogat Sports Academy in Haryana.

 The reason Bhind her death is might have been due to her defeating in the tournament final for which she was very much Excited. Investigation Underway, ”Ram Singh Bishnoi,” said. Vijay Kumar Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport & Highway, was who confirmed the news of Ritika’s suicide on social media.

About her Teacher

Mahavir Phogat was an amateur wrestler himself while his eldest daughter, Geeta, is a freestyle wrestler who won India's first-ever gold medal in wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Geeta is also the first-ever Indian woman wrestler to have qualified for the Olympics for 2012 in London Games.

Babita won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, bronze at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships, and followed it up with a gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Phogat sisters and their father Mahavir shot to fame after Aamir Khan's 2016 film Dangal, which became the highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
