Dua Lipa was born on August 22, 1995, in London to Kosovar Albanian parents. Later her parents moved to Pristina in Yugoslavia( in present, Kosovo) in 1992. Lipa's father was a marketing manager as well as a lead vocalist in Kosovan Rock Band Oda. Her mother was working in tourism. Dua Lipa has a Muslim background and through her maternal grandmother, Dua Lipa also of Bosnian Descent. She attended Sylvia Young theater school part-time in the early years of her career. When her father received a job offer in Kosovo in 2006 her family shifted to Kosovo where she attended Mileniumi i Tretë (Third Millenium) school in Pristina, Kosovo. In Kosovo, she became a big fan of Hip-Hop artists which influenced the music style of Lipa.

When Dipa is 14 Years old, She had started posting covers of her favorite songs by artists such as Pink and Nelly Furtado. Once Lipa said that she was influenced by the discovery of Justine Beiber on youtube and also inspired him to take the same route which Justine Bieber follows. After one year later she moved back to London to become a singer. At that time she is living with friends and studying at Parliament Hill School. To get some money from the Music session, she started working at hostessing restaurants and night clubs. She also started working as a model but after some time she dropped the idea of the model and focused on music learning. As a model, lipa starred in a television advertisement for The X Factor.
